Caught over 500 Brown Recluse Spiders

We received an email from Derek in Missouri:

I purchased a historic brick home that had sat abandoned by people for over 10 years; however the house was fully occupied by an arachnid colony the size of which I had never seen.

Hundreds of spiders lived in the 8 rooms on the main floor, and I couldn’t begin to count the basement, attic and root cellar.

To start out I bought some traps from either dollar general or walmart, but the spider catcher traps had ‘windows’ and only glue on the base of the trap, which meant that laid flat only 25% of the surface was capable of trapping a spider.

Frustrated , I researched online for a trap with more coverage area, and no windows. What I found were the Traps Direct Spider Traps. They came in a 72 trap Spider Infestation Package that gave me a much lower price, free shipping and the largest most ample coverage area.

Once the traps arrived I linked them together (tab of 1 trap into slot on the next trap) and made a spider barrier that went the width of the room, this way a spider would not have to just wander into the trap, they couldn’t avoid it! Like most situations, nothing seemed to happen for the first few days, but after I was out of the house at work for the week, I came back on Saturday to find too many spiders to count caught by the spider wall.

I used the same spider wall approach in most rooms (since I had not yet moved into the house).

I attribute the fact that I was never bitten by a brown recluse to the Traps Direct traps and spider wall approach! A great product.
